The festival dates back to the 1920s, when Honey&#8217;s Restaurant first served what would become the \u201cfamous slawburger,\u201d a sweet-and-tangy, mustard-based slaw piled on an all-beef patty. Honey&#8217;s still serves the dish today. Fayetteville Main Street created the festival in 2015 to celebrate this local legacy. Visitors could walk the grounds and shop with local vendors, finding handmade crafts, baked goods, jewelry, woodcarvings, and other unique items. The festival offered games and competitions such as an ice cream contest and the beloved slawburger-eating competition; youth in attendance were especially excited that organizers created a teen division for ages 13 to 17 for the contest for the first time. Children also enjoyed watching the pet costume show and spending time in the Kids Zone, which offered bounce houses, games, and face painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/fayetteville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/06\/4-5-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25917\" srcset=\"https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/fayetteville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/06\/4-5-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/fayetteville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/06\/4-5-980x653.jpg 980w, https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/fayetteville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/06\/4-5-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photos submitted by Velva Walker<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guests were also treated to live entertainment from 3 to 9 p.m., headlined by Third Party Thieves, a Southern rock party band that inspired people to dance and sing along. It was the perfect family outing or shopping day with friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPeople keep coming back year after year because it feels authentic \u2014 families build traditions around it.
