DO YOU ever crave something to eat so much that you can\u2019t stop thinking about a specific style of food or a particular dish? I do. Today, I couldn\u2019t stop thinking about sushi, so I decided to venture out solo this afternoon and dine at Yamato Japanese Steak House in Decherd. When you walk in, you will find the atmosphere peaceful and serene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yamato\u2019s has an extensive sushi menu and includes chicken, steak, hibachi, noodle plates, and more. I sampled so much, and it was all so good! First, I started with the edamame, a Japanese soybean steamed with just the right amount of salt. I also tried the shrimp tempura. You receive five large shrimp fried in a light tempura batter and a sample of tempura-fried vegetables. These alone could fill you up, but this was just the beginning. Next, I sampled what might just be my new favorite appetizer: fried dumplings. Inside, the pork was hot; outside, it had a crispiness I hadn\u2019t had before in a dumpling. It was perfect. I also had my personal favorite \u2014 crab rangoons with cream cheese and crab filling. One dip in the sweet and sour sauce and your mouth melts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For my entree, I ordered two sushi rolls. The first one was the Crazy Dragon Roll. The inside is filled with spicy tuna and cucumber and topped with eel, avocado, and eel sauce. The second was the Rock \u2018N\u2019 Roll. It includes spicy tuna, cream cheese, and crab and is deep-fried and topped with lobster salad and eel sauce. While both rolls sound similar, they are quite different in both taste and texture. The Crazy Dragon Roll is a spin-off of the regular Dragon Roll with spicy tuna and a smooth texture. The Rock \u2018N\u2019 Roll is crunchy with tempura batter and has a sweet flavor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every bite was delicious. I joked that I needed to be rolled out to my car because I ate too much to walk back while carrying a couple of to-go boxes with me.
