\u201cThe Lord has really been good to us,\u201d Dean said. \u201cHelped us when we couldn\u2019t help ourselves. I give Him all the credit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through all the early struggles, raising children, paying $135 a month in rent on a tiny old building, and barely scraping by, Peggy held the business and the family together. \u201cShe ran the store by herself for 20 or 30 years,\u201d Dean said proudly. \u201cRaised two kids, canned vegetables, broke beans, and did it all while helping customers.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They had no formal business training. What they did have was a backbone of honesty, work ethic, and faith. \u201cWe were just old country people who didn\u2019t have anything,\u201d Dean said. \u201cBut we did what was right with people. That was enough.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And now, the legacy lives on through their son, Henry, and their grandson, Christian. \u201cHenry was born into this,\u201d Dean laughed. \u201cHe was picking up nails and driving planks back from the job site before he could walk straight.\u201d Henry has mastered the art of sanding and finishing hardwood floors and is known for his expert work with high-end shower doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHe\u2019s everywhere \u2014 from Nashville to Franklin \u2014 up on that mountain,\u201d Dean said. \u201cYou wouldn\u2019t believe the work we do in Tracy City, Monteagle, Jasper, Kimball, and South Pittsburg\u2026 places we never dreamed we\u2019d be. His glass business expanded far more than his expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The family\u2019s reputation is so well- known that even insurance companies recognize the name. \u201cI tell people, \u2018I can represent you like a lawyer.\u2019 This is my business, and I know it inside and out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n At 72, Dean still shows up every day. \u201cI don\u2019t take vacations,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m here to help people.
