This month, <strong>Shannon Beebe<\/strong> visited <\/em><strong><em>Paleteria y Fruteria<\/em><\/strong><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RIGHT IN the middle of downtown Decherd, Paleteria y Fruteria Moctezuma is one of those spots that makes you smile the second you walk in. Bright colors, fruit cups, paletas, and about a million desserts greet you at the door \u2014 and on a warm afternoon like today, it felt perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I went with the chicken flautas plate for lunch, and let me tell you\u2026 those flautas were rolled tight, fried super crispy, and packed with juicy, seasoned chicken. The crunch alone was worth it, but dipping them in the green sauce on the side made it even better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/franklin-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/11\/2-3-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24476\" srcset=\"https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/franklin-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/11\/2-3-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/franklin-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/11\/2-3-980x653.jpg 980w, https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/franklin-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/11\/2-3-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Being a taco freak, I couldn\u2019t resist trying a few different tacos, too. The pork was tender with little crispy bits on the edges of the carnitas taco. The al pastor was seasoned so well, and the asada taco was just delicious. Fresh cilantro, onion, and a squeeze of lime on all three \u2014 simple and perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, let\u2019s not forget I had to get a Mangonada (frozen mango drink) because it\u2019s basically sunshine in a cup. It\u2019s sweet, tangy, and a little spicy with the chamoy and chili \u2014 exactly what I wanted on a warm day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/franklin-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/11\/4-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24477\" srcset=\"https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/franklin-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/11\/4-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/franklin-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/11\/4-1-980x653.jpg 980w, https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/franklin-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/11\/4-1-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And then dessert: their churro split. Instead of bananas, you get warm, crunchy churros topped with vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream, sauces drizzled everywhere, and a cherry on top. It\u2019s a total nostalgia bomb and completely worth the splurge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I finished it all off with a cold, creamy horchata sprinkled with cinnamon.
