Held on Tennessee Avenue and Front Street on either side of the railroad tracks, the festival serves as the primary fundraiser for the Cowan Railroad Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is not just a Cowan thing or a Franklin County thing. This is an area-wide event,\u201d said Mark Ledbetter, chairman of the Fall Heritage Festival committee and past president of the Cowan Railroad Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival is held on the third weekend of September, and it draws people from all over Tennessee and bordering states. It provides a family-friendly atmosphere with craft vendors, live music, and activities. This year\u2019s event welcomed 174 vendor booths from at least six different states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/franklin-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/11\/6-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24511\" srcset=\"https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/franklin-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/11\/6-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/franklin-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/11\/6-1-980x653.jpg 980w, https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/franklin-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/11\/6-1-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photography by Taylor McClure<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The three-day celebration featured live concerts on three stages, with the headliner band Exile. Musical acts were<br>primarily bluegrass, gospel, or rock, reflecting the heritage of the Cumberland Plateau foothills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendees also enjoyed shopping at the booths, eating from food trucks, and exploring the train museum. There were also antique engines on display and a Saturday Jeep parade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were plenty of kids\u2019 activities for families, including a carousel and games. The cherry on top was the beautiful fireworks display that concluded the event on Friday and Saturday nights.
