\u201cGetting to play with Charlie Daniels was a big one,\u201d he said. Daniels, a Tennessee legend himself, was kind to Lester and encouraged him in those early days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Daniels treated him like he belonged, like this whole crazy idea of pursuing music was something worth believing in. And sometimes that\u2019s all it takes: Someone seeing something in you before you can see it in yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt was a great learning experience,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perhaps more importantly, it was confirmation. Maybe this path wasn\u2019t just a daydream after all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But the stage is just one of Lester\u2019s mediums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently, he opened New Era Vintage, a passion project turned business venture, on Lebanon\u2019s square. And it isn\u2019t your average shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s part collectible den, part nostalgia trip, and part altar to all things wonderfully eclectic and deeply inspiring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From the moment you walk in, you\u2019re hit with nostalgia and color. Bits of history, pop culture, and creativity fuse together. It\u2019s a mood, a feeling, a flashback. The store consists of vintage collectibles, old-school band tees, funky \u201890s toys, and vinyl records with tattered edges and stories engraved in their grooves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a vibe for sure,\u201d Lester said. \u201cI\u2019ve always loved cool, weird, vintage things,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But he\u2019s really offering a feeling of rediscovery, play, and memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOur goal is for you to walk out with something that inspires you, sparks creativity, or just makes you feel cool.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n This isn\u2019t Lester\u2019s first dance with vintage goods. He ran a booth at Antiques on 231 for years, curating pieces. But New Era Vintage is different. It\u2019s louder, bolder, and more alive \u2014 just like the music he continues to write and record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It invites people to rediscover the joy of expression, whether through fashion, fandom, or flipping through old records. It\u2019s a love letter to the past, signed with present-day intention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So, what would he say to someone sitting in a dream who\u2019s too nervous to take the first step?<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf it gives you life, it\u2019s probably worth working to bring it to life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He believes in following that inner tug, even when the path ahead looks foggy, and especially then. Failure isn\u2019t a stop sign but a rite of passage. He\u2019s lived long enough to know the best stories don\u2019t come from perfection. They come from persistence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA creative being made us,\u201d he said, \u201cand He assists in our creative efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n For Lester, the process is spiritual. And failure is not the enemy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt plays a crucial role in every success story.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Looking at Lester now, a singer-songwriter, vintage shop owner, and small-town creator, you wouldn\u2019t know he once hesitated to share his voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But Lebanon raised him to believe in community, legacy, and showing up for the life you want to build.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And whether it\u2019s in a song, a collectible jacket, or a serene moment between guitar strums, Lester does just that with each vintage gem and honest lyric.
