This second annual event included lighting the Christmas tree on the lawn of the historic Bedford County Courthouse, already awash in festive red and green lights, plus a fireworks display. Photos with Santa, live reindeer, and American Idol Season 21 finalist Hannah Nicolaisen kicked off the event at 4 p.m. Superheroes and Disney princesses thrilled every child \u2014 and many adults!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/shelbyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/12\/6-3-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24584\" srcset=\"https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/shelbyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/12\/6-3-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/shelbyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/12\/6-3-980x653.jpg 980w, https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/shelbyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/12\/6-3-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photography by Ashleigh Newnes<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Lowe\u2019s sponsored a free Build-A-Toy Workshop near Shelbyville City Hall, and Leadership Bedford hosted a Decorate-A-Cookie Station across from Glass Hollow Table. Farm Bureau and the Bedford County Fair spotlighted our agricultural roots through their \u201cFarm for Christmas.\u201d Energy from the Mid-State Cloggers warmed the chilly night along with dancers from Inspire Dance Academy. Blood Assurance representatives were on site to collect donations, and members of the Shelbyville United Methodist Church presented a live nativity featuring Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus, the three wise men, kings, and angels. Two miniature donkeys, Dippt and Wynx, added authenticity and charm to the rustic stable backdrop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/shelbyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/12\/4-10-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24587\" srcset=\"https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/shelbyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/12\/4-10-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/shelbyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/12\/4-10-980x653.jpg 980w, https:\/\/goodnewsmags.com\/shelbyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/12\/4-10-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photography by Ashleigh Newnes<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Both the city and county mayors, along with dignitaries, addressed the crowd from the stage across from Pope\u2019s Cafe, and right before 6:45 p.m., Buddy the Elf, two helpers, and the big guy himself \u2014 Santa \u2014 drove up in a historic firetruck from the Wartrace Fire Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The countdown began: 10 \u2026 9 \u2026 8 until, after a unanimous \u201cone,\u201d the tree glowed in red and silver lights. Fireworks crackled across the winter sky. Several offered freebies, sales, and holiday goodies. Sad Dog Games hosted outdoor games; families enjoyed face painting at Merle Norman; J.
