Nikia Elliott, a lifelong resident of Bedford County, is campaigning for the office of sheriff with a platform built on 25 years of experience and a deep commitment to conservative values. Currently serving as the chief deputy for the Bedford County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Elliott has spent over six years in executive leadership, overseeing a staff of more than 120 employees across patrol, corrections, and administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elliott\u2019s career is defined by a “ready on day one” approach, having worked in nearly every division of the department, including SWAT and investigations. During his tenure as chief deputy, he successfully led the department through Tennessee Tier 1 Accreditation, an achievement marking a high standard of operational excellence. His leadership also contributed to a significant 4% recidivism rate through inmate rehabilitation programs, demonstrating a focus on both public safety and fiscal responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His vision for the county is rooted in “compassionate policing,” a perspective informed by his personal experience as the father of a son with autism. This has led him to prioritize autism-specific training for law enforcement and resources for families with special needs. If elected, Elliott intends to implement a zone-based patrol model to improve response times and invest in modern equipment and mental health support for first responders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A second-generation law enforcement professional, Elliott views public service as a lifelong calling. His campaign emphasizes a strategic balance of drug prevention, enforcement, and rehabilitation to address the local drug crisis. With early voting beginning May 5, 2026, and the election held on Aug. 6, 2026, Elliott is positioning himself as a seasoned leader dedicated to protecting the community he has always called home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
