\u201cI went to Jared with no intention of buying a ring, just sort of scoping them out,\u201d Lane said. \u201cBut I found one that just spoke to me, and I thought she would love it, so I bought it on the spot.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lane just needed to plan the perfect moment to propose. Unexpectedly, Rachel\u2019s study abroad plans fell through due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her parents surprised
her with a European trip after her graduation from Middle Tennessee State University, and that is when Lane saw his chance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt just clicked for me to do the proposal in the most romantic city on Earth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lane began researching and coordinating with a local photographer in Paris, France, to plan the surprise. When the day arrived, Rachel had no idea. She just knew she was in the City of Love with her favorite person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI had no idea! I do love a surprise,\u201d Rachel said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The couple agreed he would plan the afternoon events while she planned their evening, and he implied that they were going to a museum. Instead, Lane led her to the stunning Eiffel Tower, dropped to one knee, and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The happy couple married on Aug. 15, 2025. Both Shelbyville natives, these two vibrant and talented individuals have begun building their lives together, as well as their own businesses. Lane is the owner of Next Level Construction, and Rachel works as a real estate agent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Being self-employed comes with unique challenges, especially for young newlyweds. Sometimes, that means sacrificing a lazy Saturday morning together because of an open house, or having to take a phone call at 8 p.m. Those challenges have not discouraged Lane and Rachel as they learn to navigate each challenge together and support one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe understand the sacrifices it takes to try and build something for ourselves,\u201d Lane said. \u201cWe talk about our dreams and the \u2018what\u2019s next\u2019 for us at dinner, often!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Rachel said their relationship hasn\u2019t changed much since the wedding, but something deeper has settled into place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEver since getting married, there is just something really comforting knowing that I have my best friend and favorite person in my corner through all highs and lows. Marriage is such a gift and is so fun!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rachel said. \u201cOne thing I have always admired about Lane is that he has always given me the freedom to be exactly who I am and has never tried to change me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lane adores his bride as well and said that her faith in God is an inspiration to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI admire Rachel\u2019s faith and patience! I love seeing how she chases after the Lord and tries to be better each and every day,\u201d Lane said. He then joked, \u201cI\u2019d say being married to me requires a ton of patience, and she does pretty well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lane and Rachel know that they\u2019re still young and don\u2019t have everything figured out just yet, but they each have lessons they have learned in the short time they have been together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe have learned to pray a lot and give each other space to be our authentic selves,\u201d Rachel said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lane agreed. He said putting God at the center of his life and marriage is essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYour cup must be filled before you can pour into others,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The couple looks forward to the future with joy, hope, and gratitude. They have already built a strong foundation for their relationship to stand on. As they continue to enjoy their first year of marriage, they are intentionally working to grow closer together while also maintaining their individuality. With such a beautiful beginning, their future looks bright.
