A total of 407 cooperative members registered, and an estimated 520 attended, packing the auditorium and spilling into overflow space. The milestone marked the cooperative\u2019s founding in 1936, when 386 residents gathered to become its first members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNinety years ago, Duck River Electric was formed because people believed rural communities deserved a stronger future,\u201d said DREMC President\/CEO James Wright. \u201cThat belief still guides us. But they understood something that still matters \u2014 when people come together around a shared need, they can build something lasting. That is what this 90th anniversary is about. It is not just a look back.
