<\/figure>\n\n\n\nA YEAR OF CELEBRATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n To celebrate, the center will be showcasing to the community all that it offers along with what it plans to bring to the community for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the center\u2019s executive director and SJCC board chairman, Greg Gressel, events such as stage productions, concerts, community events, and more will be taking place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Productions will include \u201cLast Round-Up of the Guacamole Queens,\u201d \u201cThe Rocky Horror Picture Show\u201d and \u201cAlways Patsy Cline\u201d as part of the Com- munity Playhouse series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOur play finding committee really set out to pro- vide a good season,\u201d said Gressel. \u201cOther traditional shows and events will include \u201cThe Nutcracker\u201d, the center\u2019s Ice Cream Social, and \u201cSouth Jackson Goes Country\u201d, which everyone gets excited for.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The center will also welcome local musical acts to perform on the newly constructed outside stage for the center\u2019s Friday Night Concert Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Gressel, the series kicked off April 15 and will include local performers such as Salem Creek and The Stan Allen Band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n MOVING FORWARD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n While proud of the past, Gressell said he and mem- bers of SJCC understand the importance of keeping the center moving towards the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To ensure that the center continues to do just that, they are holding capital campaign drives as a means to raise funds to preserve and update the building for years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe are hoping to spur on the next phase of that because all of the funds raised from that will go towards refinishing the floors and new seating on both levels,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are looking to install an or- chestra pit along with new chandelier house lighting. Our goal is to get the center back to that 1920s look. We want to show our relevance in the community and the value of what it means to have a perform- ing arts center in a town our size. We really hope to spike interest with people through this campaign and show them that this is not just a place you can see something every now and then, but a place where you can go and really enjoy your time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gressel added that being a part of such a his- toric event is an honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFor me, it\u2019s certainly a really big deal. I\u2019m a history nut and I love the whole concept of learn- ing about the past and being a part of such a res- toration is awesome, and it\u2019s certainly a jewel for the city of Tullahoma.\u201d -GN<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" It’s not every day you turn 100.
