Initially pursuing veterinary medicine, everything changed when she began apprenticing with her audiologist after undergraduate school. \u201cI discovered a passion I didn\u2019t know I had,\u201d she recalled. \u201cIt brought together all the things that mattered most to me \u2014 helping others, engaging with science, and building meaningful connections.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, her personal experience informs every interaction. \u201cMy hearing loss has become one of my greatest professional assets,\u201d she reflected. \u201cIt allows me to meet my patients exactly where they are and offer guidance rooted in genuine, lived experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n For Maxwell, the journey into hearing care started in an unexpected place \u2014 her own living room. That\u2019s when you know you\u2019ve genuinely changed someone\u2019s world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Hearing Aid Center is also proud to serve as a community care clinic for veterans, offering local access for those who might otherwise have to travel long distances for care. \u201cTransportation is a huge issue for many veterans,\u201d Wortham noted. \u201cWe\u2019re honored to make hearing care accessible to them here at home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Their mission to \u201cheal our hometown\u201d extends to patients of all ages and backgrounds \u2014 from factory workers and teachers to first responders and young adults.
