GOOD NEWS IS COMING TO DINNER! We will feature a local food critic’s thoughts as they dine in Tullahoma. This month, Tabitha Buckner visited Legacy Creamery.
EXPLORING HIDDEN gems in small-town Tennessee is a love of mine, and stumbling across Legacy Creamery when I first moved to Tullahoma felt like striking gold — sweet, creamy, locally made gold. And I love sharing it with family and friends when they come to visit.
Tucked just off Wilson Avenue, this hidden gem is easy to miss, so keep a close eye out. This artisan gelato shop isn’t just serving up deliciousness; it’s serving a deeper purpose. It was founded by Cassy Grow in memory of her son, Eli. The creamery donates its proceeds to the Eli Grow Legacy Foundation, which supports youth scholarships and community programs. So it’s a tasty treat and a meaningful visit.
Now, let’s talk gelato — because WOW! Legacy Creamery makes every batch from scratch using milk from local dairies like Hatcher Family Dairy. It’s rich, dense, and incredibly smooth — just pure, creamy magic in every single bite.

They often have over 20 flavors, and choosing is almost impossible. They have seasonal favorites, like the perfect summer treat — Peachy Cream — and a number of classics, including Coffee Crunch, Sweet Cream, and Cookies and Cream. But plenty of tempting creations are left to try, like Red Velvet made with real cream cheese, the layered dream of Tiramisu with ladyfingers, and Loaded Cookie Dough topped with enough chunks to make even Cookie Monster jealous. Our family favorites include Chocolate Jack (made with a splash of Jack Daniel’s), Banana Pudding, and Blood Orange Sorbet.
Legacy also offers dairy and gluten-free options, so there is something to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth! If you’re in Tullahoma and craving something sweet, this place is an absolute must-visit. It is only open Friday through Sunday, so plan accordingly. They offer covered tables for nice-weather days, or you can take your treat to go — it’s the perfect companion for a drive through town. Be sure to say “yes!” to the free waffle cone topper and enjoy a taste of creamy, decadent flavor. GN
