WALKING INTO London’s Restaurant and Bar in downtown Tullahoma, we were greeted by many friendly faces and even a few familiar ones. We grabbed a seat and immediately started perusing the full menu. London’s is definitely more than just a local watering hole — it is a foodie’s paradise!
Tonight was a casual date night, and we opted to indulge our taste buds, starting with the Bavarian pretzel. It was served piping hot with warm beer cheese and some stone ground mustard. It was perfectly crispy on the outside but somehow still pillowy soft in the middle, combined with the crunchy bits of coarse salt and melty, warm beer cheese. I was immediately in heaven.
Our entrees quickly followed, and we each selected one of the burgers — local legends. This was my first time dining at London’s, but I had heard many tales of its burgers, made with locally sourced wagyu beef and charbroiled to perfection. The patties have delectably crispy, beefy edges and are hot and juicy. I chose the Barnyard Burger topped with crispy bacon and an ooey-gooey runny egg. The runny yolk made a tasty treat to run my beer-battered fries through for added flair. The first bite had me ready to try every other burger offered on the menu!
My husband is a traditionalist and opted for the London Burger with a double patty, melty cheese, and the usual tomato, onion, pickle, and lettuce. Though maybe the “traditional” choice, it was still oozing with flavor. London’s offers a number of other burger selections, including a Beyond Beef vegan option, so there is something for everyone! But if a burger just isn’t your thing, offerings also include a variety of quesadillas and sandwiches, including a cheesesteak that I already have my eye on for next time.
Being my first time, and wanting to try as much as I could, I also ordered a Pizza-tilla. We chose the chicken, bacon, and ranch, and it was phenomenal. Such a simple pizza, but it packed a punch of flavor. The base is a crispy tortilla that offers a nice crunch and is piled high with melty cheese, grilled chicken, and salty bacon. I had to take most of my food to go, but I left with a smile on my face.
While we decided not to indulge in drinks this time, London’s does offer a full bar of favorites. Whether a bourbon or whiskey aficionado or an enjoyer of fruity mixed cocktails, London’s has a drink for everyone. And for dessert, London’s offers an incredible list of cheesecakes, so be sure to ask for the flavors of the week!
All in all, London’s surprised this foodie with its menu, and it is so much more than just a bar. While you can certainly enjoy your drink of choice, catch the big game, or shoot some pool with friends and strangers alike, the food offerings are top-notch and much more than “just bar food.” If you are a local looking for a noteworthy burger, or maybe just passing through town and trying to find a cool and casual dining spot, look no further than London’s on the square.
