WHAT’S BETTER than a free event that brings a community together in a historic place with built-in good vibes? How about a holiday-themed, twinkling-lights-bedazzled free event that turns Lebanon into a kind of cheerful polar wonderland?
That’s exactly what Christmas on the Square serves up each year, and this year’s celebration, held Saturday, Dec. 13, was no exception.

Downtown Lebanon became a place to linger. Christmas on the Square was designed less like a scheduled program and more like an invitation to wander, reconnect, and enjoy the season without an admission fee or a to-do list.
The square quickly filled with local vendors offering gifts, handmade items, and holiday treats, while food trucks lined the perimeter, giving families plenty of options to refuel between stops. Children’s activities anchored the day, alongside an LED outdoor dance floor that managed to draw both fearless kids and slightly hesitant adults into its orbit.

The days following the event made it clear that Christmas on the Square lingered well beyond Saturday evening. Social media buzzed with vendors expressing gratitude for the chance to connect with the community and shoppers asking how to find makers they had discovered while strolling the square. Questions about handcrafted jewelry, memorable sweets, and familiar favorites like boiled peanuts quickly turned into shared links and recommendations, underscoring how the event functions not just as a single day of celebration but as a bridge between local businesses and the people eager to support them.

As the year winds down, Christmas on the Square offered something increasingly rare: a chance to be present. To walk downtown without rushing. To say hello to people you haven’t seen in a while. To let the season unfold one small moment at a time. GN
