GOOD NEWS IS COMING TO DINNER! We will feature a local food critic’s thoughts as they dine in Lebanon. This month, Krys Midgett visited Mangos Mexican Restaurant.
Some menus make it nearly impossible to decide what to order. Mangos is one of those places. Thankfully, we settled on two dishes that couldn’t have been more different, and both were winners. Before we even looked at the menu, warm chips and fresh salsa arrived at the table. Since it’s practically a requirement to order queso at a Mexican restaurant, we added that, too. Creamy, cheesy, and perfect for dipping, it disappeared much faster than we’d like to admit.
Our server, Yareli, was friendly, attentive, and never let our water glasses get anywhere close to empty. She provided excellent service.

The La Mixteca is for those days when choosing just one protein isn’t an option. Loaded with chorizo, thinly sliced steak, shrimp, and chicken, then grilled with peppers and onions and covered in melted Mexican cheese, it’s a meal that keeps surprising you. The steak was juicy, the chorizo added just enough kick to wake up your taste buds, and the cheese seemed to find its way into every bite, tying all those flavors together. Every forkful was a little different, which made it hard to put the fork down.
The Shrimp Hawaiian was delicious. Pineapple always goes well with shrimp. Sweet tropical flavors blend beautifully with traditional Mexican seasonings, creating a fresh, flavorful entree that gives beach vibes. The tender shrimp and pineapple complement each other perfectly, offering something a little different from the usual Mexican fare.

Here’s one more reason to visit — every Saturday, all appetizers, including that irresistible queso, are 50% off all day. They also have a board in the front listing food and drink specials for every day of the week.
Whether you’re craving a traditional favorite or something with a tropical twist, Mangos delivers generous portions, friendly service, and plenty of flavor. Just don’t blame me if you leave wondering why you didn’t order another bowl of queso. GN
