GOOD NEWS IS COMING TO DINNER! We will feature a local food critic’s thoughts as they dine in Manchester. This month, Shannon Beebe visited Skip’s Grill.
TONIGHT, I stopped at Skip’s Grill, just a little south of the Winchester square, and let me tell you — this cozy spot is still serving up delicious comfort food after more than 50 years in the game.
While Skip’s is best known for its breakfast, I decided to swing by for dinner — and I’m so glad I did. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and French fries — and wow! The chicken was perfectly grilled — juicy and full of flavor. The lettuce was crisp, the tomato was thick and fresh (like, super fresh), and the sandwich was stacked just right. The fries? Golden, hot, and fresh out of the fryer — everything you want from a side of fries.

The place was buzzing with laughter and chatter, with families filling every seat. It was one of those nights when the energy made the food taste even better. The waitresses were hustling with a smile, keeping up with the dinner rush like pros — friendly, fast, and full of personality.
But Skip’s isn’t just about the food. There’s a warmth in this little diner that you can’t fake. The staff is welcoming, and you can tell the owners genuinely care about the place and the people who walk through the door. It’s the kind of spot where they remember your name and your usual order.
Skip’s Grill is your place if you’re craving classic American food done right — with a side of hometown charm. It offers cozy vibes, good food, and a whole lot of heart. Whether it’s breakfast or dinner, Winchester’s little gem is still shining bright. GN
