I’M A morning person. I love a good sunrise — not just watching it but also going to Sunrise (The Breakfast Place) in Decherd. So, for my adventure this month, I decided I wanted breakfast. Sometimes, I crave a good, sweet cream pancake or one of Sunrise’s four-egg omelets, and I was having that for my birthday! When I walked into Sunrise, I was greeted warmly by the friendly faces smiling at me. The dining area was packed, which is always a great sign of good food. You could hear laughter amongst the children and see happy families spending valuable time together.
The server seated me, quickly brought my beverage, and took my order. Inside is a modern warehouse feel with bold, bright colors and concrete floors. That doesn’t mean they’re cold — quite the opposite. The food is sweet and inviting along with the atmosphere.
When I go out to eat, I order extra so I can have a variety of palettes to choose from. Today, I ordered banana chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream. Alone, these could be enough for two to enjoy. The batter was perfect. It was light and fluffy — melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. I tried home fries, two over easy fried eggs, and bacon. My eggs were spot on — yolk runny, whites cooked — exactly how I like them.
The bacon was crispy but not burnt, and the home fries were seasoned just right. I also ordered the Kitchen Sink Omelet with the marbled rye bread. Now, for those who don’t know what “kitchen sink” means — that means everything in it. So, this one had sausage, bacon, ham, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, Monterey Jack, cheddar, and American cheeses. I must reiterate that the portion sizes are enormous. I can guarantee a full stomach and to-go box each time I leave. Sunrise was my hero! It satisfied my sweet tooth and made the perfect birthday breakfast. GN
