AN EVENING of fun, fellowship, and philanthropy filled the Lakewood Golf and Country Club on Thursday, Oct. 30, as the GFWC Centennial Woman’s Club and the spirited Bunco Babes of Tullahoma hosted their annual Bunco Challenge fundraiser. The event brought together friends, laughter, and friendly competition — all for a meaningful cause, benefiting the MultiCounty Cancer Support Network.

The Bunco Babes, a close-knit group of 11 women, have been playing together for nearly two decades. What began as a monthly game night turned into a powerful community fundraiser in 2009 after one member lost her husband to cancer. To honor his memory, the group hosted its first Bunco Challenge to raise scholarship funds for Tullahoma High School students. Since then, the annual event has evolved into an October tradition supporting cancer awareness and assistance for local families

Each year, players purchase tickets to enjoy an evening of rolling dice, laughter, and lighthearted competition. Local businesses generously donate door prizes and sponsorships, ensuring the night is filled with excitement and community spirit. Between games, guests share stories, refreshments, and encouragement for those impacted by cancer.

Over the years, the Bunco Babes and the GFWC Centennial Woman’s Club have raised more than $65,000 to help support cancer patients and their families across eight counties. Proceeds from the event help provide gas cards for those traveling to treatment, financial assistance with medical expenses, and comfort items for individuals undergoing chemotherapy.
