DOWNTOWN WINCHESTER once again transformed into a winter wonderland as the community gathered for this year’s ‘Tis the Season celebration — a full day marked by holiday cheer, family traditions, and shared experiences that highlighted the heart of Franklin County. Held on Friday, Nov. 28, the event brought residents and visitors together to enjoy festive activities, local vendors, and memorable moments woven throughout the square.
The day began at 10 a.m. with the beloved Breakfast with Santa event, offering families a warm and joyful start to the holiday season. As midday approached, the square quickly filled with the aroma of food trucks, the sound of laughter, and a steady flow of guests exploring the attractions available from noon to 7 p.m.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees enjoyed an extensive lineup of free activities. Santa greeted families at the courthouse, while children participated in craft stations, carnival games, snow tubing, and the popular Tinsel Trotters inflatables. The interactive photo booth, balloon artists, Tennessee Twister face painting, and Puffy Cotton Candy Artists added vibrant energy to the event. Festive photo opportunities and live reindeer further enhanced the holiday atmosphere.
Community partners provided thoughtful additions, including the live nativity scene at the Methodist Church, the Material Girls Quilt Show, and unique animal encounters such as the Highland cattle interaction and Bits & Peaces horse photo op. The Oldham Theatre hosted free movie showings at noon and 3 p.m., and children enjoyed a special experience during the Princesses in the Enchanted Forest event.

A significant highlight of the day took place at Rare Records during the Private Past & Present Military Event featuring HunterGirl, where local servicemen and women were honored in a meaningful and heartfelt gathering.
The celebration concluded with the highly anticipated Community Tree Lighting and free HunterGirl concert, bringing the crowd together for an evening filled with music, gratitude, and the unmistakable warmth of the season.
This year’s ‘Tis the Season event showcased Winchester’s strong sense of community and reaffirmed the importance of traditions that continue to bring people together year after year.
