GOOD NEWS IS COMING TO DINNER! We will feature a local food critic’s thoughts as they dine in Franklin County. This month, Shannon Beebe visited Lupita’s Tacos.
You know I can’t resist tacos, so I stopped by Lupita’s Tacos on the downtown Winchester square, and let me just say — I left happy and full!
I ordered the Fried Taco Plate, and WOW! It comes with four shredded chicken tacos that are rolled up and fried until they’re perfectly golden and crispy. They were topped with fresh lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, and shredded cheese, then served with a bright, flavorful salsa verde that added just the right amount of zing. Every bite had that perfect combination of crispy, fresh, and delicious.

The plate also came with black refried beans and Mexican rice, and both were excellent. The beans were creamy and full of flavor, while the rice was light, fluffy, and seasoned just right. No bland sides here!
Because one taco is never enough for this foodie, I also ordered an al carbón street taco. The grilled meat had an incredible smoky flavor, was tender, juicy, and didn’t need a bunch of toppings to stand out.

Then came the quesabirria — and friends, this one is worth the trip all by itself! Crispy, cheesy, packed with tender birria, and served with a rich consommé for dipping. If you’ve never dipped a quesabirria into that flavorful broth, you’re missing out!
One thing I really appreciate about Lupita’s is that everything tasted fresh and was made to order. The portions were perfect, the flavors were authentic, and every dish had its own personality.

If you’re spending time on the Winchester square or just looking for your next Mexican food fix, I definitely recommend giving Lupita’s Tacos a try. GN
