With more than 26 years of dedicated service in Bedford County law enforcement, Chief Deputy Nikia Elliott is bringing a proven track record of leadership to his campaign for sheriff. As a lifelong resident of the community and a second-generation law enforcement professional, Elliott has spent over six years in executive leadership, directly overseeing operations and a staff of more than 130 employees across patrol, corrections, and administration.
Elliott’s career is defined by a “ready on day one” approach, having worked in nearly every division of the department, including SWAT and investigations. During his tenure as chief deputy, he successfully led the department through Tennessee Tier 1 Accreditation, an achievement marking a high standard of operational excellence. His leadership also contributed to a significant 4% recidivism rate through inmate rehabilitation programs, demonstrating a focus on both public safety and fiscal responsibility.

His vision for the county is rooted in compassionate policing, a perspective gained through his personal experiences as a father of a son with autism. This drive shapes his plan to prioritize autism specific training for law enforcement and resources for families with special needs. As sheriff, Elliott will implement a zone-based patrol model to improve response times, while investing in modern equipment and mental health support for first responders.
With early voting beginning July 17, Elliott is asking the community for their support and trust to keep local law enforcement moving in the right direction. He remains dedicated to keeping Bedford County a safe, strong, and protected place to call home.
