I’VE BEEN very excited to get to Ruth’s Kitchen and try her food. When the announcement broke on Facebook, Shelbyville responded with such enthusiasm, and it shows. At 9:40 a.m. the place was packed full of customers with only a few parking spots in sight. Luckily I found a parking spot and a seat inside. One of the first things I noticed when I walked in was the lush salad bar full of vibrant colors from the fresh vegetables, as well as a display case full of freshly baked cakes and pies.
I ordered a pancake, bacon, eggs, hash browns, and chocolate milk. In my culinary opinion, this was the best possible way to start my day. The pancake was fluffy and had crispy edges with a distinct homemade taste that restaurant chains could never achieve. The bacon was thick cut and cooked to perfection. Of course the eggs were great, and the hash browns were plentiful. My chocolate milk was even mixed using Hershey’s chocolate syrup, just as I do at home. Ruth has such joy for food, and you can taste it throughout each bite. It’s similar to eating breakfast at my mother’s house on a Saturday morning. I was stuffed and left very few bites on my plate.
Not only is breakfast the most important meal of the day, it’s my absolute favorite meal of the day. It was such a joy to eat at Ruth’s Kitchen. Ruth hasn’t only mastered the art of breakfast, in fact it’s more. She also has an extensive lunch menu that changes each day, as well as her popular salad bar. Be sure to follow along on Facebook to stay up-to-date on each day’s menu and restaurant updates. -GN
