ASK LACEY Deeds what she loves about her job and she will tell you without hesitation, “making a difference.” She absolutely loves helping locally-owned businesses build a firm foundation of success beginning with a business plan, a road map to success. As an avid motorcyclist, Lacey knows all about using road maps to get to where she wants to go, and she is well-qualified to help Bedford County businesses reach their destinations.
Lacey has worked in 32 states, providing economic development support for chamber of commerce and regional government organizations. Knowing she has had a hand in businesses creating success motivated her out of retirement from Daytona Beach, Florida, to Middle Tennessee.
Lacy and her husband, Jeff, a Vanderbilt graduate, were looking for the right match for her skill sets in the right community that appealed to them. Bedford County with its rural lifestyle and easy access to a metro area caught their attention. Bikers love the open road and Bedford County has a lot of roads to explore. The green vistas and lack of hurricanes won them over on the area.
As most people would agree, it is the members of the community that really make an area feel like home. Lacey’s experience with everyone from local business people, government officials in the City of Shelbyville and Bedford County, as well as local citizens made Lacey realize she made the right choice making Bedford County her home.

Lacey is rolling up her sleeves and eager to make a difference as part of the business community. Bringing business people back together for regular and innovative meetings is one of her first priorities after being apart for so long. She is enthusiastic to find untapped resources and hidden talents in Bedford County, people who might have a great business idea and need some support to get it off the ground. This is where Lacey shines.
She would love to talk with you about your idea, help you get your dream on paper and think through the finances, marketing, and time commitment to design your future. If she doesn’t know exactly what you need, she will be able to put you in touch with someone who does.
Local business success is about each of us supporting the other to build a bigger pie within our community.
There will still be the annual dinner and holiday mixer at the chamber of commerce—you can count on those. In addition to the traditional chamber events you have enjoyed in the past, Lacey is looking forward to offering innovative educational opportunities around technology and marketing. She is also enthusiastic about bringing together women in business, whether they own or work in businesses.

Personally, Lacey is enthusiastic about a great meal. One of her favorite things about traveling is sampling the local fare. She would love to hear what restaurants you enjoy in this region and is looking forward to trying them.
The future is bright in Bedford County. Growing the local economy and strengthening local businesses helps the entire community. Lacey has a lot of ambition for this area. She has wisdom to share and is looking forward to meeting you, whether to talk over your business idea or just to discuss your favorite local restaurants.
You never know where the road to success is going to take you. Aren’t we fortunate that it has brought Lacey Deeds to Bedford County? -GN
