CANCER SUCKS. Literally, it sucks the life out of seemingly healthy individuals and wreaks havoc in the most stable and secure homes. And it is not biased. Cancer will act as a leach to every individual it can attach itself to. Most of us have had to deal with a cancer diagnosis, whether within our family or with a close friend. It’s heartbreaking, overwhelming, and indeed no fun.
However, we want you to imagine an evening without the weight and worries of the world weighing you down. No sickness. No poverty. No heaviness. No daunting medical bills. No worries! That is the type of evening that the Relay For Life of Lincoln County chapter has planned just for you as they put together the 7th annual Night of Hope Ball fundraiser.
The fundraiser is set for Saturday, April 2, at the Sacred Stone Event Center in Fayetteville. This community-based night of fun brings an army of people together, including cancer survivors, caregivers, family members, philanthropists, and volunteers who dream of living in a decade where cancer is nothing more than the common cold. The theme for the event is Decades of Hope. Guests are encouraged to dress like people living during their favorite decade.
The night will commence with a cocktail hour starting at 4 p.m. and lasting until dinner. Dinner will be prepared and served at 6 p.m. by 2 Hicks with Sticks BBQ and Catering. There will be a sneak peek fashion show by Fayetteville’s very own Juan Guerrero after dinner. Guerrero has put together a collection celebrating fashion throughout the decades. Just imagine cameras going off in every direction as models strut down the catwalk showing off their perfectly curated outfits. Guerrero’s designs celebrate fashion staples over the decades. Whether it be sparkling flapper dresses from the 1920s or platform heels and bell-bottom jeans from the 1970s, the models are bound to look stunning wearing Guerrero’s very own!
While the night is in honor and remembrance of loved ones who have lost their lives battling cancer, it is also a hope-filled celebration of the breakthrough that is to come! There will be a DJ providing music for dancing and silent and live auctions taking place throughout the night. -GN
